Sustainable Building Construction

Sustainable building materials for a healthy environment

The impact of buildings on our environment is enormous. As players in the construction industry, we want to contribute to planning and designing the complete life cycle of a building with our cast iron systems in an environmentally friendly way.

First-class eco-balance with cast-iron drainage systems

With our cast-iron drainage products, you conserve natural resources and close the cycle even after the building's service life thanks to their recyclability.

Sustainable by nature

Cast iron is produced by melting scrap iron and thus conserves our natural resources.

Complete recycling

Cast iron drainage systems can be returned to the recyclable material cycle for iron products without any problems (plastics, on the other hand, can hardly be used to create new products due to the various mixed components).

About the systems

With cast iron to a certified green building

National and international institutions define a series of standards for environmentally friendly and resource-saving building. With the use of cast-iron drainage pipe systems, the requirements of sustainable building certifications in the area of drainage are reliably met to 100 %.

Our partner for sustainable quality assurance

The best-known institution for sustainable planning, construction and use of buildings is DGNB. Among other things, the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) is responsible for the certification of buildings. Not only ecological aspects are assessed, but also the entire life cycle of the building. This is based on the three central sustainability areas of ecology, economy and socio-culture.

Laws and guidelines for sustainable building construction

In addition, there are a large number of regulations to be observed at international, European and national level when constructing a building.

Examples are the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (Kreislaufwirtschaftsgesetz), EU taxonomy or the regulation on the energy efficiency requirement. For the planning of public contracts, the guidelines for sustainable building construction must also be taken into account. The right choice of materials plays an important role in meeting specified targets.
